Setting up the ESPRESSObin board (Versions 4, 5 and 7) requires a separate laptop or desktop linux PC with R/W SD card and internet access support.
We used a 2010-vintage Asus Aspire laptop with 2.2GHz Pentium dual core, 4GB ram and a 250GB SSD loaded with Ubuntu 20.04.
This laptop performs two main operations:
- Creating the bootable Ubuntu image on to the SD card; and
- Providing the development environment to rebuild the Ubuntu kernel with mPCIe SSD device support.
