Getting the Decaf / IOC firmware version

Two ways: If the Decaf board has a LCD, the power-up screen shows the firmware version, 7.0 (November, 2019). and for all Decaf boards, run the USBView utility downloadable from the Support Pages. Select the USB Input Device that's equates to your Decaf board. In the Device Descriptor section, the r...

Using 2D arrays in extension command DLLs

When creating a set of extension commands in a DLL, it's unclear how 2D arrays are defined and used. The command arg list data types (i.e. the command syntax) are declared in the DLL RegisterExtLibCmdSet(...) function. Suppose we define a command set with functions starting with "abc...". A simple c...

Using 1D string arrays in extension command DLLs

When creating a set of extension commands in a DLL, it's unclear how arrays, and in particular string arrays, are defined and used. The command arg list data types (i.e. the command syntax) are declared in the DLL RegisterExtLibCmdSet(...) function. Suppose we define a command set with functions sta...

USB Vendor Strings not shown under linux

When you run our USBview utility under Windows, all Decaf boards will display a number of strings such as : [*] Vendor ID ("PiXCL Automation Technologies Inc.") [*] Manufacturer ("PiXCL Automation Inc.") [*] Product ("PiXCL Decaf IOC-2x") [*] Serial Number ("066800343637473043126861") These strings ...

Endoscope-3 Slow Frame Rate

The Endoscope-3 is a USB2 High Speed (480 Mb/s) device, with an Omnivision OV9665 sensor, and an unknown micro-controller handling USB communications. The OV9665 sensor is set to auto adjust the exposure time for the available light on the target. This can be seen when the video Preview is stopped a...

Endoscope-3 Button Support

The Endoscope-1 (E1) and Endoscope-2 (E2) both have snapshot buttons on the handle. Button events are sent a Monitor.exe app or the video display app (Endoscope.exe), and the response is (for the user) immediate. The E1 and E2 use custom drivers from PixArt Taiwan. The Endoscope-3 (E3) uses the gene...

Endoscope-1 is flakey on Surface Pro 4

A new user reported the following on a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 Professional: "It appears to get itself into a mess quite easily and the endoscope.exe app stops working requiring a system restart. On restart I need to have the endoscope disconnected or it says that it does not recognise the ...

Displaying Components from an RGB image

On Linkedin Image Processing Group, Rakesh Singh (Assistant Professor at Punjabi University) posed this question, so this morning I ran up a test app to do it. The (simplified ) code does the following: * DrawBitmap (x,y, BaseImage$) // RGB24 * DuplicateImage // set of three, still RGB24 * TuneImage...

USB2 Virtual COM port and Windows 8/10

The USB2 board kit includes a driver (v3.6) from Prolific that works with Windows 7, but does not work with Windows 8/8.1/10 because of issues with the older Prolific PL-2303HX chip. http://www.pixcl.com/forum/images/USB_COM_port.png We have notified our supplier and hope to have this resolved (idea...

Endoscopes on Windows 10

We now have an Acer laptop (T4400 dual core 2.2GHz) running Windows 10. Tests show that the Endoscope-1, -2 and -3 all run with no issues, as does PiXCL 10 and PiXCL 11. The Endoscope-3 uses the Windows generic usbvideo.sys driver.
