Endoscope-1 is flakey on Surface Pro 4

Post by StewD » Sat Oct 29, 2016 4:25 pm

A new user reported the following on a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 Professional:

"It appears to get itself into a mess quite easily and the endoscope.exe app
stops working requiring a system restart. On restart I need to have the
endoscope disconnected or it says that it does not recognise the USB
device. If I plug it in after startup, it appears happy to recognise it."

Here's a possible fix:
What Windows does unless you tell it not to is (helpfully...) turning off external devices when nothing happens for a while. Look at the Control Panel "Power Options" and turn on High Performance,.

Next, look at Advanced Settings. Under "USB Settings" you'll find the "USB Selective suspend setting" which I expect is enabled. Set this to DISABLED.

This will stop Windows from disabling the USB port after a period of no usage.
